Airtel SIM suddenly stopped working. Currently abroad
I moved abroad 40 days ago and my Airtel SIM was working fine. I made sure to recharge for a 1 year domestic plan so the SIM would stay active.
Now suddenly my phone is behaving as if the SIM does not exist. It shows no SIM card in Slot 2. I tried restarting, changing the sim slot and wiping the SIM too but no luck.
I tried calling Airtel support but they're saying since you're abroad, you can't:
- Get a new SIM
- Convert to eSIM
- Let someone else get the SIM on your behalf when they come to India
They're telling me you're absolutely screwed unless you come to India. Please tell me if there is any way forward for me. My Bank OTPs are registered on that number which is my biggest worry.
