AITA for getting circumcised without telling my partner?

I (36m) got circumcised without telling my partner (40m). He has since found out and has stopped speaking to me. I got the op after wanting it for a number of years. It was related to minor medical issues, but not absolutely medically necessary. I didn't tell him because I knew he would say I was being nuts, and would try to talk me out of it. It has taken me years to build the courage to go ahead with it, and I didn't want to lose my nerve. We aren't the best communicators, and we don't have a physical relationship any more. I figured it was my body, and mine to do what I wanted with, but it seems I underestimated how strongly he would feel about it - I assumed he would eventually get used to it, but he has remained very upset and now I feel bad.
