Anyone else feel like they are wasting their one shot at life by not getting into a good college?

I just had this thought that as humans we only get one life, and that by not doing enough to get into a top college you are throwing away that one opportunity to partake in an experience (not top college) that’s inferior to what you could be doing. I know that sounds incoherent. But damn.
