[Research Help] Why Did You Name Your Dog That? Looking for Boston Dog Owners!
Hey Boston dog lovers!
I’m a Northeastern University student writing a story for The Boston Globe about dog naming trends in Boston—why people choose certain names, what patterns are emerging, and how they reflect our city’s culture.
Fun fact: There are 97 dogs in Boston named Luna, followed by Charlie and Bella (78 each). But behind every name, there’s usually a story. Maybe your dog is named after a loved one, a childhood memory, a favorite book/movie character, or something totally random?
I’d love to hear your story! If you’re open to a quick 5-question interview (via Reddit chat, DM, or email), please comment below or message me! My email: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Also, if you’re a vet, animal expert, or someone in the pet industry who has insights into dog naming trends, I’d love to chat! If any organizations allow on-site interviews and photos, even better.
Drop your dog’s name below or DM me if interested. Thanks! 🐾
[Update] Thank You for Your Responses! ❤
Hey everyone,
I’m so excited to see all your replies! I really appreciate the engagement and stories you've shared about your beloved dogs.
I also noticed some comments pointing out that this isn't a Boston city dog owner community—my mistake! I originally thought I was posting in a general Boston dog owners' group, and I truly appreciate the kindness in pointing that out. This is actually my first time posting on Reddit, so thank you all for your patience and help!
Our project focuses specifically on dog owners in Boston, but I’m genuinely happy that this post has become a great space for Boston Terrier owners to connect and share their stories. Please continue sharing—I and my team are thrilled to see such an enthusiastic community!
Thanks again, and wishing you and your pups all the best! 🐶❤️
