I’ve driven the car about 1000km and it’s already out of oil

I own a 2008 Toyota rav4. The previous owner ran it dry for a short amount of time. When i got it the oil lasted 5000km. I’m quite new to working on cars so I’m not sure what is happening. Can you guys explain what’s happening and what I can do to fix it
