Should I get two kittens instead of one eventhough we're planning on traveling?

We're a married couple with no kids and we're getting a kitten soon. Of course at first we're gonna stay home with her, but while she's still young we want to get used her to traveling with us in case we would sometimes like to go for longer trips (for shorter we're definetely going to use a pet sitter).

I know cats do well both on their own and with a buddy but I'm really considering getting another cat for our kitty not to be bored alone. A boy kitten from her litter just became available as someone who was gonna take him resigned. But at the same time, having two cats might collide a bit more with our travel plans. Is it smarter to get just one cat in that case? Do you think it would be much harder traveling with two cats?
