“Why do you comfort me?”

This morning before Mass, I was praying the Rosary (sorrowful Mysteries) and focusing on/ruminating on the flogging of Jesus, the carrying of the cross, the crown of thorns, all these heavy burdens that Christ took on for us. And as I was praying, I thought of our Holy Mother, witnessing all this happening, all that He did for us.

I asked Mary, “Why do you comfort ME?! Shouldn’t I be comforting YOU? Shouldn’t my sins be so egregious to you, witnessing what your Son did for us? Why on Earth would you want to comfort me?”

And she answered: “Because that’s how much He loves you.”
