Catholic perspective on dating a single mother?

I’ll try and keep it to the point.

I’m in love with a single mother I met almost three months ago. We’re both catholic and have been very intentional with our dating thus far. We get along very well and have the same values. Per the title, she is a single mother and I’ve been apprehensive with that since the beginning of our relationship. I’ve eased up on it as I’ve grown closer to her, however it’s still a big pill to swallow. Whether it’s complaining about court, or her child’s father being unreasonable, or realizing I’d have to sacrifice a lot of my freedoms in order to be with her long term, especially since she’s a single mother who shares custody with the father, I’m in a rut.

Like I said, everything’s great. Perfect even. If she wasn’t a single mother, I’d have no reservations and we’d be married tomorrow. Like I said, again, I’ve grown to accept her and all the baggage she has, but we’re still having fights where it’s me usually shutting down in reaction to her life which is very stressful and can be uncomfortable for a man to be witness to (seeing her child’s father, consoling her when she’s upset about court, having to hear her all the drama that comes with that, etc.).

I want to think that being with her isn’t a coincidence. I was praying for a wife for a long time and then she popped in my life and checked every box possible, but it’s so strange she had to be a single mother, which is a big “but.” This also keeps me in the relationship since I want to believe she is the one for me. However, I wonder if I’m being a fool and maybe it’d be best if we part since it seems like I’m trying to force myself to be ok with this uncomfortable situation and she’s as a result feeling like she has to keep convincing me to stay as if something’s wrong with her (there’s nothing wrong with her).

Is this God testing my patience? My selflessness? We connect on such a deep level and work so well together that it feels wasteful to rush into the easy choice of separating. Am I wrong to feel guilty for wanting that? Am I too weak and falling short of what God perhaps blessed me with?
