US aid stopped; we have to step up

I assume that all the Christians here give what they can for the global poor. (A lot of our non-Christian friends do, too.) There's an aid emergency right now that means we have to take it up a notch.

Today, the United States cut off all foreign humanitarian aid - not just ending funding, but actually ordering them to cease operations completely and immediately, for at least 90 days. We really need to look at our finances, pray, and see if we can increase our help to get through that time - a lot of people can starve in three months. "When did we see you" will be answered "late January 2025" - one way or another.

Be careful to choose a responsible aid agency to give through; places like GoFundMe are rife with scammers. There's probably an excellent aid group associated with your church, and there's always Church World Service. Speaking of church, you might want to let your pastor know about this - with all that's going on, they may not have heard.

If you're a US citizen, please consider also asking the administration to resume aid. The White House is not providing any contact information for citizens, so I don't think they can be emailed at present. Presumably the postal mail address still works (1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20500). I'm going to try a postcard - it's impossible to mail suspicious powders in a postcard, so my guess is that postcards might go through more quickly than letters in envelopes. Also, contacting your Representative and Senator might help, since they presumably have some way to contact the White House.
