Has anyone stopped going to church because of hypocrisy?
My first church experience the youth pastor was forced to quit and lie to the congregation about God telling him to quit. He was fired because someone else wanted his job that manipulated the head pastor to let him go. The youth group started reading the bible in small groups away from the church. The new leader sent people to "spy" on us.
My second church I left when the pastor started teaching people how to become prophets -Doesn't God choose that?
My third church I left because the pastor spent all his money on a house worth over 1 million. The church didn't even have a security system or wall switches. We had to use the circuit breakers to to turn the lights on and people had to volunteer to fix things around the building.
My fourth church I left because the pastor did something personal to my family I don't care to discuss here.
My fifth church I left because I was forced to go, or they would make my university revoke my Bachelors degree.
The only church I would have considered going to was disbanded because the pastor was praying for a wickan in Salem, a picture was taken and the regional head church people said, "we don't associate with those people." -WTF Didn't Christ hang out with the prostitutes?
Another church I went to was pretending to have a revival, but were asking for LARGE sums of money (four times) by the time the session was over.
Tell me I am not the only one. I quit going to church altogether but I still believe everything I believed about the faith when I was there. I just have less faith in people. If anything, I have more faith in non-Christians because at least they are being honest with themselves and others. Church, to me, is now a business or a tool for social hierarchy to make one's self feel more important than the other. It's ironic that Christians are not supposed to judge.
Am I the only one? Feel free to discuss this at your church. I'd actually like that.
Edit: Go ahead and downvote me. But don't avoid the question at hand. The church has flaws.
Edit: It's ironic that more people outside of the "christian" reddit care to answer than the actual people who consider themselves the chruch.
