Relocating tips

My husband and I are looking to move to the area with our baby,and dog. We’re planning to visit and stay in German Village for a few days next month but are a little clueless as to where to look and what’s safe without being there. We’ll likely rent at first, but open to buying with a price range of $250-350k. We’re in our 30s, looking for a family oriented, quiet neighborhood where we can meet other families but still things to do within a few miles radius. Does this place exist?? Any recommendations on areas to look when we visit?
