Costa Rica next week - want to cancel
Hi all,
I am a Canadian scheduled to leave for to Costa Rica in a week and I am having immense anxiety over it. Plans are to travel Monteverde and Antonio Manuel with a friend. I have travel anxiety in general, but with all the political turmoil going on in North America right now I am extra nervous to go - which sounds like an understatement. I am so close to cancelling right now.
If i could please have some encouragement and reassurance, I dont want my anxiety to win. I am a biologist and I love nature and wildlife, so I am trying to imagine once I am there all of this anxiety will float away and ill be glad i went. But right now the thought of traveling is making me sick to my stomach.
Sorry for the overshare but I am desperate. Thanks!!
Update: THANK YOU so much everyone for all your kind words, encouragement, and sharing stories! I feel so much better and am getting very excited to go! I really appreciate it.
For those who are confused what the US politics has to do with travelling to CR: 1) Im not worried about anything happening IN Costa Rica. If anyone follows the news, things are escalating quickly in the USA. Im worried something major will happen when I'm far from home, also I have a layover in Miami both ways that I am not stoked about. 2) I wrote this post when Canada and US started a trade war and i was scared what was going to happen with that.
BUT I know I need to stop reading so much news and just focus on CR and take it one day at a time. If things start to get really bad I can just come home.
