Opinions on Custom Class for 5e
I DM'd a lot of 3.5e and thus felt very comfortable making custom prestige classes. However, I simply don't have as much experience DMing 5e so wanted to ask the community here for their opinions on my custom class. It's higher levels aren't complete but I want to check how its going so far. Thank you for your time.

Imbue Weapon
After a short or long rest, you may imbue one weapon of your choosing with a magical energy of the following types: Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning or Thunder. When you hit an enemy with this weapon, you may use a bonus action to release some of this energy dealing 1d4 damage of the chosen type. At 6th level, this damage changes to 1d8 and at 13th, it increases to 2d8.
Martial Caster
When wielding a weapon you are proficient with, you may use it as an Arcane Focus. You may use your weapon instead of your hands to complete somatic components; doing so does not affect your ability to attack with the weapon.
Apprentice Mage
Starting at 2nd level, your studies have began to pay off and you may cast some arcane spells. You learn one 1st level spell of your choosing from the Wizard spell list and gain two 1st level spell slots. You learn a new spell every other level. You may copy spells into your spellbook.
Mage’s Endurance
At 5th level, once per day, after a short rest, you may regain a number of spell slots such that their cumulative spell levels equal half your Spellsword level or regain HP equal to 1d10 + your Spellsword level. You may not gain more spell slots that you normally have.
Channel Spell
With your new magical capabilities, you have practiced channeling arcane power into your weapons. As a move action, you may spend a spell slot to cast a spell into a melee weapon you are wielding. Once in the weapon, the spells range changes to touch and its area of effect changes to target. Upon hitting a creature with this weapon the spell is unleashed. If the spell requires a Spell Attack, it automatically succeeds. If the spell requires a Saving Throw, the creature still makes it. The spell stored is used up after hitting an enemy or after 8 hours past.
Area of Focus
You have reached a point in your studies at which continuing to study both the martial and arcane arts would only limit your capabilities. From now on, you must dedicate yourself to one practice.
Arcanist
The Arcanist dedicates themselves to pursuing a mastery of arcana. Growing their magical understanding and power they
Spellcasting
At 3rd level, this ability replaces Apprentice Mage. Using Intelligence as your casting ability, you now have full access to the Wizard's spell list and learn two new 1st level spells and two cantrips. Each level, you learn a new spell that you have spell slots for and you may replace a known spell with a new one. You prepare and cast spells as a Wizard does and use the same formulas for spell save DC and spell attack modifier.
Evocation Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 3rd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy an evocation spell into your spellbook is halved.
Practical Magi
Starting at 3rd level, you can cast a wizard spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tage and you have the spell in your spellbook.
Improved Channeling
At 7th level, you gain the ability to channel spells into ranged weapons. Additionally, you may stack up to two spells into a weapon. These spells are released in the order in which you channeled them. Starting at 14th level, you have learned how to add the physical force of your blows to the spells you channel and may add your Spell Attack bonus to the damage of channeled spells.
Combatant
The Combatant has chosen to hone their physical prowess and increase the strength of your elemental powers.
Runesmithing
At 3rd level, this ability replaces Imbue Weapon. After much practice, you have learned how to carve runes into your weapons. These are more powerful than imbuements. Your additional damage dice increase to 2d4 and you may imbue a second weapon with a different or same damage type. At 11th level, you can expel the energy as a free action.
Extra Attack
Starting at 7th level, you gain the Extra Attack ability. At 14th level, it increases to three attacks.
Armor Enhancer
At 10th level, you gain the ability enhance your armor with magical energy. After a long rest, you may add 2d6 temporary hit points. These wither away 8 hours later.
