Primer smells bad 2 years after it was applied.

Hello,

So, over 2 years ago I decided to change the colors of one of the walls in my room from bright yellow to dark gray. My biggest mistake was putting a primer, which they colored dark gray in the paint shop. I applied it to the wall and after that I had put two hands of gray paint over it. In the beginning, it smelled so strong that I decided to apply another primer + two hands of paint in order to block the smell, however it did not work at all. I think it even made the things worse as the initial primer will take much more time to get rid of its smell.

After two years, the odour is not that strong but I can smell it every time I enter my room and I'm not imagining it, other people confirm the same. I'm so tired of this and I am searching for a solution. I found on the internet a strong primer called "Zinsser Bin". I am wondering if it can actually block the smell, or I should hire somebody with a wall sander to remove all the paint, but I'm afraid that they will damage (with dents and etc).

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.
