My Biriyani Expeditions- Part 1
Being a hardcore biryani lover and a travel enthusiast, food is an integral part of my journeys—especially biryani. India is famous for its biryani varieties, and trust me, each one hits different! I’ve had the chance to try biryanis from different places, and every single one has its own vibe and flavor.
Now, before you ask—I’m not ranking these. Each biryani reflects the culture and tradition of its place, and honestly, that’s what makes them special. Since I can’t fit all my experiences in one post, I’m breaking this into parts. So, let’s get into it!
- Mom’s Biryani (Malabar Biryani, Kerala)
Nothing beats mom’s biryani, period. Since we’re from Kerala, Malabar biryani is our thing. It’s got minimal masala, well-cooked mutton (or chicken), and fragrant kaima rice—and that combo is just chef’s kiss. No matter how many biryanis I try, this one will always be my all-time favorite.
- Arsalan Biryani (Kolkata)
Kolkata biryani was a whole new experience for me. First time seeing potato in biryani, and honestly? It slaps. I had both mutton and chicken biryani from Arsalan Park Circus, which is their OG outlet. The flavors were on point, and I totally get why people love it.
- Ambur Mutton Biryani (Zaitoon, Ambur)
A friend from Ambur told me I had to try this, and wow, it was a next-level experience. Ambur biryani is one of Tamil Nadu’s most historic and traditional biryanis, and I could taste the authenticity. The ‘dum’ style here is different from anything else I’ve tried, and I loved it. Definitely another top-tier biryani for me.
- Malabar Wedding Biryani (Kozhikode, Kerala)
Malabar biryani at Kozhikode weddings? Elite. The taste is completely unique—less masala, but a sweet, aromatic blend of spices and meat that makes it stand out. While many Indian biryanis have some Mughal influence, Malabar biryani is in a league of its own.
- Mughlai Biryani (Lucknow)
Tried authentic Lucknowi biryani at a friend’s house, and bro, that was different. Less spice but unreal aroma—every bite was straight-up flavor heaven. This biryani is all about subtlety and richness, and I’m so glad I got to experience it.
Since I’m missing some of my own pics, I had to use a few from the internet, but hey, the focus is on the biryani itself. Again, this isn’t about ranking—just sharing my biryani adventures.
