This pretty much sums up their entire exchange in Season 3 Episode 2
Honestly… and I know I’m gonna get blasted for this by many… but I’m leaning more towards Cecil’s point of view. Cecil wanted to talk to Mark, and Mark didn’t feel like talking and that scared Cecil, and rightfully so. After Omni-Man I’d be paranoid too. Nolan betrayed everyone including Cecil. And we all saw in most universes that Mark is actually a bad guy. Whether or not Cecil knows about the other Marks, it still proves Cecil’s cautiousness is valid. It’s like Batman and his contingency plans. He doesn’t WANT to use them, but will if he has to. Mark demanded Cecil to put Sinclair and Darkwing back in prison, or he wouldn’t leave. And honestly Mark’s whole argument didn’t make a lot of sense to me. He argues that Sinclair and Darkwing are criminals and are irredeemable. Then what does that make Nolan? The guy who has committed genocide on countless planets, tried to enslave humanity, killed the Guardians of the Globe (HIS FRIENDS), and tried to kill Mark when he wouldn’t join him. But Mark still sees the best in him because he’s his dad. And even if he has changed do you really think someone like say… Immortal! Would just immediately forgive Nolan? Doubtful. The whole reason why Mark was so upset here is because this was all personal for him. Sinclair hurt William and Darkwing called Mark a monster for being Omni-Man’s son while he himself was a psychopath murderer. So Mark just says to lock them up and throw away the key. But Cecil has learned why waste talent when you could fix it and use it for a greater purpose. It’s like having criminals do community service for a better cause. But Mark let his emotions cloud his judgement and was unknowingly being a massive hypocrite. Now do I agree Cecil was completely in the right? Heck no! Dude went way too far when he used his ReAnimen to attack the rest of the Guardians at HQ. He should’ve just explained to them what was going on instead of just saying “This doesn’t concern any of you!” They have a right to know the truth whether or not they agree with it, otherwise they really thought Cecil was trying to kill Mark and things ended up going south fast. Overall I loved this episode and can’t wait to see more!
