People cannot stop talking about the idea that “You know who might turn into a cursed spirit”, so maybe it’s better to talk about a more realistic theory.

The following explores the theory that Riko Amanai might indeed be Dagon, examining various elements within the series that suggest a possible connection between the two characters.

1: Dagon’s Design

One of the first pieces of evidence pointing towards the connection between Amanai and Dagon is Dagon's distinct attire. Dagon is depicted wearing an ensemble reminiscent of a nun's habit. This detail is particularly noteworthy given Amanai’s background, as she hails from a missionary school. Furthermore, episode 18’s Juju Stroll showcases the curses dressed as high schoolers, seemingly a creative choice to awaken people with female mahito, but possibly a hidden message from the creator, Gege himself, hinting at a deeper connection between Amanai and Dagon.

2: Amanai’s Death

Amanai’s demise further fuels this theory. The character meets her end with a bullet to the head, a significant detail within the lore of "Jujutsu Kaisen." When a curse user dies from a non-cursed object, there is potential for manifestation as a Cursed Spirit. This leads to speculation that Amanai’s death could have resulted in her becoming Dagon. Dagon’s absence in the fight against Gojo at Shibuya and presence alongside “Geto” raises questions. Could this absence be a subtle nod to protecting Amanai’s past from materializing?

3: Domain Expansion

Dagon’s domain expansion serves as another piece of this intricate puzzle. Born out of the fear of water-based natural disasters, one might expect Dagon’s domain to represent aquatic scenarios like tsunamis or the Mariana Trench. Contrarily, the domain is a serene, sunny tropical island, seemingly contradicting Dagon’s origin. This is the equivalent of Jogo’s domain being an exciting hike up a mountain. This discrepancy might be a reflection of Amanai’s last memories in Okinawa.>! Dagon’s utilization of fish shikigami raises eyebrows,!< possibly alluding to the aquarium fish Amanai encountered during her trip.

In conclusionnnn

The similarities in design, the circumstances surrounding Amanai’s death, and the contradictions in Dagon’s domain expansion all contribute to this theory. Such theories make me depressed knowing how Dagon was and will be portrayed in the manga and anime respectively. RIP RIKO AMANAI aka DAGON
