Looking into the original KEF LSX, is there anything else better suited my needs?

Hi there,

So I've always been using headphones instead for the past 15 years with a computer, however I've really let my health slip and have gotten a treadmill to use whilst working from home. I don't wanna taint my headphones with sweat so I figured it's time for some speakers to watch video's whilst walking more or less.

- My usecase for this would only be as a pair of speakers on my desk as I have a Sonos setup for the rest of the apartment.

- I'll really only be using it via optical due to constantly being used with my desktop

- I already have a very aesthetic setup with walnut and green colors going for me

- I'm really not high end enough to get passive speakers and a full setup I reckon, it's a little bit beyond my needs really as I'll still use my headphones unless I'm walking on the treadmill.

- I don't have a deep desk as is so the LS50 will be to big I reckon.

What caught my eye was an older gen 1 version of the green lsx for around €450. They're green and would fit my setup, they're small enough not to look weird on my desk, they're active meaning plug n play for me.

So my question is, in my mind it checks all the boxes but I'd still really like to hear some second opinions about this. Convince me to go passive, other brands better suited for my needs? due to the poor-ish? reception of the original LSX's would you stay away? Is there a better bang for buck that I'm not seeing etc?

Enlighten me! :D
