Separation and belongings

My wife and I have separated. I don't live at the property. Im able to go back to get my belongings but I am unsure exactly what I can take. I want to be fair and not break any laws.

I assume it's only my clothes, belongings before relationship? - How about stuff that I solely used but brought with joint money like tools? - How about things that we jointly use but I paid for it? What if no evidence? - Birthday gifts from her?
