Am I being overly critical of I9 hubs longevity?

I need a new wheel-set and have a $1500 Canadian budget. I am eyeing the We Are One Revolution rims with I9 Hydra or 1/1 hubs, but I've read a lot of conflicting reviews with some people saying their ratchet system itself will wear down over time and issues with dead hubs out of warranty after 2-3 years.

My preference is for max durability and lifetime rim warranty so I can buy a set of aluminum Reserve 30's with DT hubs for $900 but feeling like I'm missing out on a much better ride experience with the WAO's.

UPDATE: Found out IMBY Bikes was doing a flash sale on their wheelbuilds and got WAO Unions with DT350's for only $100 more than the Hydra's on sale. Thank you all for the comments and happy trails to one and all.
