A Long Overdue Review of The Nolah Evolution 15" Mattress

I saw people asking questions on my original post not too long ago; and I can finally make a review on it. I ended up homeless for a bit and had to put the mattress in storage. Now that I've been using it for close to a year I feel good making a review about it. I'm a bigger guy, 350lb 6' tall and a predominantly side sleeper. Pressure points on my hip and shoulder were a huge issue with my old Sealy firm mattress (Honestly a great quality mattress, it was a free gift and just didn't work for how I sleep); even with multiple foam toppers.

After a lot of research, and seeing the mattress on sale for 50% off I decided to try to the Nolah. At my size I find it very plush, but still supportive. I can just barely feel the coils when I wake up in the morning after sleeping on my side (This could be from Fibromyalgia causing sensitive pressure points). I am dealing with some chronic health issues, so ymmv, but I do find I toss and turn very little once I fall asleep. The top layers of the mattress do a good job of "cradling" me in one position for most of the night. The only big issue I've had with the mattress is finding pillows that work for me (I have herniated discs in my neck so again, ymmv). I sink into the mattress enough that the plush top layers have made my old pillows too thick to comfortably use. I mostly use a U shaped travel pillow to support under my neck and then rest my head on the surface of the mattress. I'm still struggling with numbness in my arms and hands, but thinner pillows/neck rolls are helping. I don't think this would be an issue for lighter people, but the mattress may prove "too soft" for someone under 200lbs and not be supportive enough. They offer a few different configurations for lighter people; but I can't offer any insight about them.

I can say the mattress sleeps cool for me, certainly much cooler than the foam toppers I was using on my old mattress. It has nice "bounce" and feedback for intimacy, but it does feel more controlled compared to older style spring mattresses. The only thing I can't really speak to is how the mattress is for couples that struggle with motion transfer. I don't notice my dogs moving around or getting in/out of bed during the night; so there's certainly less transfer than my old mattress. The only thing about the mattress that caught me off guard is the height, and that's mostly affecting my aging dogs. This mattress is closer to 17" thick once it's fully fluffed up. The 15" measurement is only for the edge height; so the pups are having a harder time jumping up into bed. It would be a great mattress for a low profile bed frame because of the extra thickness. You will also need a much deeper pocket for fitted sheets. I have tried several that advertised 16" depth and they still slip off the mattress because the fit is too tight; but there are always sheet stays and other products to solve that problem.

All that said, if you're a larger side sleeper I definitely recommend giving Nolah a try. They have a great trial period and warranty so it's pretty low risk to try them for a few months (trial period was 180 days at the time I purchased). Happy to save someone a few bucks if I can. Feel free to ask general questions here, and I hope everyone can find the better sleep they're looking for!
