Which One Piece arcs break this pattern?

• Crew arrives on new island

• Crew gets split up

• They each encounter the main villains and are defeated

• The group survives somehow and is reunited

• They fight the villains again and kick their butts

As much as I love One Piece, you'd think this trope would be broken more often... I was kinda disappointed for Luffy to get a huge power boost right before Fishman Island only for the same thing to happen again.
