How To Improve Your RPM
The way ad revenue works on YouTube is like this; advertisers make bids on the general demographics they want their ads placed against. They are given some options as to the region, the age and the gender for the audience they want their ads served to. They are also given the option as to whether they want their ads placed in front of videos that are 18+ or NSFW.
The RPM that you receive is going to be based around the audience that you target with your videos. So if you are making content that is intended for 14 year old males there is an understanding that generally speaking they tend to not have as much money to spend and their interested are going to focus on things like clothes, video games and music. This is going to attract advertisers for lower-value items and therefore they are going to pay less for these ads. On the other side of the coin you have the 35-55 demographic. Generally speaking this group has more disposable income and are able to make purchases for larger ticket items like Crypto investments, real estate and cars.
If you want to increase your RPM the way to do so is to cater your videos in such a way so that they speak to this demographic. This can be tricky, especially if you are making content based around something like Fortnite or Skibbidy Toilet (not even going to try and spell that right). But most channels have the ability to at least make an occasional adjustment to help garner this demographic. If you are doing a talking head series about Instagram fails maybe you do a couple that focus specifically on boat fails (boats being a high-dollar item that older males tend to watch). Maybe script a video that speaks to people who enjoy 90's music, Michael Jordan's Bulls or "Things that Millennials Will Never Understand." And of course it doesn't hurt to at least bleep out the curse words and keep your content G-Rated, that also helps RPM.
And go easy on the boomer jokes 😳😂
