How am I supposed to get better?

I was playing at Farnsworth park and people literally did not want to play with me. One person flat out told me they would not play with me again. I know I'm not the best but I'm certainly putting in the work to become a better player. I practice multiple times a week for several hours. I even take group classes! How am I supposed to get better as a player when nobody wants to play with me? This seems ridiculous. Where can I go in LA that is more friendly? Everybody starts out as a beginner - I understand not wanting to play with beginners to some degree but have some compassion here.
