Question for qualified people...

I don't know anything about plumbing. Here's my problem:

I bought a cheap, small washing machine. The machine itself is great, but the drain pump on it is not powerful enough to operate the machine properly. I would like to just buy an external pump that I can connect to the drain hose.

The question is: Is there an automatic pump I can buy that will just start sucking water through when the machine begins to drain into it?
