After switching to Wealth Independent mode I can never go back. Worrying about wealth seems exhausting and frustrating now. The wealth mechanic goes against Rimworld's very nature as a story generator

I've been playing Wealth Independent mode for years and years now. I can't imagine the frustration I would feel worrying about wealth while I play. I can't imagine throwing out extra resources or items to avoid having them count towards my wealth, just out of fear of the next raid. I'm always seeing posts/comments about people asking how to keep their wealth down- Getting rid of valuable items, materials, gold.. Drop podding them, burning them.. Even getting rid of colonists when there was too many Vat births.

I just really hate the wealth mechanic, and was wondering if anyone felt the same, or am I overthinking it? It seems to go against the very nature of Rimworld itself. In a story generator, why would your colonists ever have to remove tons of extra gold a trader dropped from their colony? In a story generator, would your colonists really avoid decorating their rooms too much, just out of fear of some invisible wealth counter?

Of course it makes sense pirates would target more wealthy settlements. But how in the world do they know every single piece of armor, every piece of gold, and every piece of art I have set up is worth? The wealth goes right down to the floor tiles and they know every single silver's of worth of it. That just seems ridiculous.

So if wealth independent mode is unknown to you, or you've thought about it, I highly urge you to try it! Keep all your steel, keep those extra expensive pieces of gear and weapons to swap out and try, and decorate as much as you want without being punished in the next raid!

Of course the beauty of Rimworld is being able to play how you want, I just personally don't wanna be nickel and dimed over every single item I acquire! I play Rimworld usually on Naked Brutality on Blood and Dust, with many (360) mods, many of which make the game harder and more diverse. Any item I find is a gift from Randy in this struggle for survival, and most of my colonies don't even survive! But the ones that do- I love hoarding amounts of food, materials, items, and beauty. Trying to keep my wealth low while running a massive end game colony with hundreds of turrets, bots, and colonists seems like a migraine.

If anyone has any counter points to why Wealth Independent mode might suck, or have it's own lame mechanics, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
