a battle hungry glint in his eye...

timeskip 99 years later, the year 2099

99 years later, spirits that possess inanimate objects have integrated into society as "average" people. a revival process has been found through this method too, through the use of artificially made human bodies, people can effectively become immortal, until they choose to move onto the ethereal realm. due to this, the fear of death has been dulled into nothingness, and due to the nature of spirits, this world was already naturally a very peaceful one, despite some violent spirits popping up here and there.

...

the trio, the first three to become what is known as 'conscious spirits', have learned what it means to be a 'human'; they learned emotions, how to control and deal with them, the 5 senses, discipline (although it didnt really stick much), egos, knowledge of the world, and much more. the trio currently live in a luxurious home, funded by ZPIRIT LABS, living as regular people in day-to-day lives, although much more freely. they learned how to control their powers, sense they were never truly human and their vessels could not fully supress their enormous powers, so as to not cause absolute destruction. more modern vessels can decrease the ranking of spirits by up to 3 ranks due to supression (the power powerful are the more they are supressed), but the vessels the trio reside in only decrease their rank by one. Tetrarria and Sonica are both currently A- in rank, and Renzoku is currently A+ in rank.

...

the famous lab known for this breakthrough, also known as ZPIRIT LABS, had significantly changed their ways (or were rather forced to). with this breakthrough, the world would naturally, drastically change. the way the lab treated spirits up to this point were rather harshly, but most would ignore it due to it basically being similar to testing on lab rats, except any injuries sustained through experimentation were never permanent. it was not well known that spirits could still feel pain, since they never showed any signs of it, but over the course of time, spirit experimentation had come to a halt due to it being seen as unethical and cruel, and due spirits now being integrated into normal society (most rules that applied to humans applied to them now). because of this, they shifted their full focus onto 'spirit humanification': the act of giving a spirit a human-like body, or a vessel with human-body-like characteristics. the difference between the two was mainly the appearance of the vessel. the former was used for spirits that previously did live a life, and the latter was for spirits that never developed a conscious. this was to be able to distinguish the two, and the latter had already been successfully used on Sonica, Tetrarria, and *Renzoku** (the trio). research in this area would vastly improve over the course of the 99 years, and ZPIRIT labs would eventually find a way to transform this into substantial profit. there is currently 2 main races in this world, which can both be split down into two more subclasses due to the breakthrough.*

1a.Humans people that were born through natural means. just the typical average human.

1b.reborn humans humans that died in their original vessel in some way, shape, or form. they reside in a new vessel that is not their original one, either a artifical one or someone elses. (there are rare cases of a spirit posessing a naturally formed vessel, where the original owner did not reside in it anymore. this would be that case, but for a human spirit, which is even rarer.)

2a.conscious spirits spirits that have taken on a vessel to gain consciousness like a regular human, or a spirit that naturally gain consciousness on their own.

2b.unconscious spirits these are spirits that naturally reside within the world, and are seen as a part of nature. these spirits can range from vengeful souls to guardian angels.

spirit taming/summoning had become illegal aswell due to these changes in society, but capturing spirits and making profit off of them has not. many spirit tamers/summoners converted into a class called 'spirit humanifiers'. this class is less focused on battle, and involves putting spirits into artificial bodies/vessels, as well as teaching newly formed conscious spirits about this world and themselves.

...

Tetrarria: "damn, nothing interesting going on nowadays. yall got anything fun to do?"

Sonica: "i heard there was a tournament going on nearby. wanna check it out yall?"

Tetrarria: "sounds boring. theres been alot of tournaments recently. whats the deal with that? people like fighting more all of a sudden?"

Sonica: "not sure, but i heard this one would be the first to include spirits into it. yknow what that means? it means we can-"

Renzoku, blood boiling: "WE CAN FIGHT! FINALLY! IVE BEEN MEANING TO BLOW OFF ALL THIS PENT UP STEAM. THERES NOWHERE TO BLOW IT OFF CAUSE EVERYONE IS SO PEACEFUL!"

Sonica & Tetrarria: "figures he would say that."

Tetrarria: "so if spirits can fight in this one, then it might just be interesting. yall wanna sign up?"

Sonica: "sure, why not? ive been meaning to test the limits of my power-"

Renzoku: "OF COURSE WE ARE! IF YOU GUYS DIDNT SIGN UP, I WOULD ROAST YOU ALIVE FOR BEING COWARDS!"

and so, they all head to the spirit tournament with the intent of signing up. not many people or spirits can match their power, but there is still many powerful beings that reside in this world...
