SSDI Work Creditd

My ex husband had a massive stroke in April 2023. He has been unable to work and filed for SSDI in May 2024. My question is whether he will have enough work credits. He was self employed and hasnt filed taxes since 2017. So Social Security shows him as having no income for 2018-2023. Will they calculate his work credits for 2013-2017 which woukd give him the 20 in the past 10 years? Or is he out of luck?
