Can I die suddenly from low AHI CSA?

Once a month or once every couple weeks after starting my CPAP treatment back in early November I wake up at night where I feel like my lungs or heart isn’t working. I’ll be sucking in air but the breathing mechanism like isn’t working or something.

I’m thinking that this is a central sleep apnea episode. My resmed airsense 11 says my ahi is usually 0-.5 most nights, all central generally.

My question is, the episode I had last night, along with the other episodes I’ve had are pretty unnerving when they happen albeit short lived as I feel fine after 10-15 seconds.

Can I die from this? I’m contemplating stopping cpap to see if I can get rid of the central episodes. My obstructive apnea wasn’t even that bad to begin with it was 1.2 ahi but 8 rdi.

Is there a big risk of me just not waking up if I get these central episodes? It’s kind of scary. Reassurance/advice appreciated.

Just as a note I feel like my cpap settings are pretty good 7-20 pressure with EPR on 1. I have lost a lot of weight in the last year and am considering trying without cpap again.
