Tesla failed to warn me about imminent collision

Dropping the kids off this morning, along a street with a raised curb where other parents are doing the same. I had the indicator on with the camera showing the blind spot as I pulled in. Put the car in park, with the indicator remaining on, and said our goodbyes. Began reversing to get out, was watching the edge of the raised medium through the blind spot camera to make sure I was steering clear of it. All of a sudden, BANG. I'd hit a car behind me. No reversing alarm. No rear camera was activated either.

I've become so reliant on the luxuries of technology, like reversing alarms and reversing cameras, that I allowed myself to fall victim to such a simple lapse of attention. Obviously I should have checked my mirrors, obviously I should have realized that the rear camera wasn't showing, but it goes to show how one can easily fall into the bias of thinking our technology will have us covered, when very clearly, it doesn't.

I tried to reproduce the bug, couldn't get it to work. I have checked the dashcam footage and the car I hit was 100% stationary. I woke up at 2AM and this happened at 8:30AM. I'd had caffeine and felt alert, and not at all tired. Frustrating but a valuable lesson, it could have been a lot worse considering how much trust I give to FSD.
