Are period cramps a valid reason to stay home?

Teen in high school. I don’t always get bad cramps on my cycle and can usually go to school like normal. Today’s a slightly shortened day due to a 2hr delay so I’m probably being too lazy, but these cramps ughhhh I wanna lay in bed all day
