Last Third Of Season Rooting Guide
Just some thoughts on the ideal playoff setup for us to make our way to the finals. All of this is assuming that we stay first in the conference.
Grizzlies: Root for. They shouldn't scare us and will be a tough out for Denver in the second round.
Nuggets: Root against. They likely won't fall below the Rockets, but a couple losses for them will mean the Grizzlies get home court advantage in the second round, plus its good for SGA's MVP case.
Rockets: Stay put. If they stay in the 4th seed, I don't think they'll give us much trouble.
Lakers: Root against. They don't seem great, but better to stay away from Luka in the playoffs anyway. If they fall to 6th I doubt we play them.
Clippers: Root against. This seems like the perfect first round matchup, so if they fall to the play-in it would be great. Plus, we have their pick.
Wolves: Root for. This one seems extra important because they're probably too good to fall out of the play-in entirely, and this would be a very tough first round matchup. If they rise, maybe they can knock out Denver in the first round.
Mavs: Don't stay put. If they win a lot they escape the play-in, if the lose a lot they don't make the playoffs. Either way, we don't want a team with that much size in the first round.
Kings: Root for. This would be another easy first round matchup, we want them to climb to 7th or 8th.
Warriors: Root against. I know we haven't been healthy when playing them, but I still wouldn't want to see them first round.
Suns/spurs: Root for. If by a crazy amount of luck these teams make the play-in, they'd probably be easy outs.
