Why do I get notifications for walks, but they don’t show up in the app even though I immediately open it?

So I was inactive on Wag for a little bit. But I get notifications for walks and when I get them I immediately open the app and it’s not there. I don’t live in an area where there’s a lot of Wag walkers so I know I’m not being beaten to it every time. Why is this happening?? I can’t seem to find answers on the app because they’re never any help.
