Can a companion give my Saryn more survivability?

I’ve barely ever put much thought into companions for the longest time because I don’t like having to build them. I know even less about them now that they’ve been reworked. Anyway, I’m having a hard time surviving steel path with my saryn; she’s on a shield gating build but I don’t really get it. She only has 74 shield by default and I end up having to spam molt(which doesn’t feel like it’s drawing enemy fire at all btw) like every 2 seconds which is very inefficient. Is there a companion that’ll boost my shields or is there something I’m missing about shield gating with her that makes it better?
