Can Lifestyle Changes Help Control AS? - Looking for Others' Experiences
I was recently diagnosed with AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis). After visiting orthopedic clinics for over 5 years, I finally learned the real cause and began studying various aspects of the condition.
What I've learned:
- While the exact mechanism of AS is not clear, it seems to be related to inflammation, antioxidants, and gut microbiota
- Current treatments (anti-inflammatory drugs, immunosuppressants) don't seem to address the root cause (inflammation triggered by autoimmune response)
- Could lifestyle changes reduce inflammation and thereby prevent AS manifestation?
I'm curious if anyone has tried the following approach:
- Measuring inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR, ferritin), antioxidant levels, and gut microbiota distribution at short intervals (1 week - 1 month)
- Attempting various lifestyle changes (anti-inflammatory diet, exercise, lifestyle modifications, supplements)
- Reviewing whether there are any effects on the measurements from step 1, and if there are any impacts on actual symptoms
- Observing whether lifestyle changes can alter the measurements from step 1, and if this can prevent AS manifestation
