What’s the hospital protocol for someone having someone else’s blood on them?
So this is an incredibly specific question, but I can’t find an answer anywhere. I’m writing a book, and in it there’s a scene where the main character gets shot, and his love interest takes him to the hospital. The love interest ends up with a quite a bit of the other’s blood on him by the time they get to the hospital and the main character is taken into surgery. I wanted to add a bit where the love interest is sitting there waiting for the surgery to be done, but I was wondering what would they do about the blood on his hands/clothes? I don’t think he’d be able to just sit there covered in blood for an indefinite amount of time. Would a nurse give him something to clean up with? Are there showers in the average hospital? Or would he have to drive home just to clean up and then drive all the way back? This is coming from someone who’s never had to go to the hospital before.
