How do I ask for pain killers?

Hey, so I had my tooth extracted on Tuesday. When the anaesthesia wore off (hours later), the pain hit me. I took Tylenol and Aleve extra strength, and sometimes that would keep the pain at bay, but it would always come back. It’s now Saturday (2:25 am), and the extraction site is throbbing quite a bit. It’s a dull, throbbing pain, like a bouncy ball hitting the floor repeatedly, then bouncing up and floating around before hitting the floor again.

On Friday, to get prescribed some 800 mg ibuprofen, I had to see the dentist on call. Apparently, my regular dentist doesn’t work on Fridays, so the dentist on call examined my mouth, identified a dry socket, and put some brown stuff in it that I had to bite down on. Fast forward to 2:28 am, and the pain is still there.

I took 1600 mg of ibuprofen within four hours, and I’m still feeling it. I think I’m healing, though. I’m not bleeding profusely, so I believe I’m healing well. However, I need more than just 800 mg of ibuprofen to manage the pain.

How do I approach this? What’s the best way to explain my situation? I’ve already mentioned that I’m in pain.

I abstain from smoking, drinking, and engaging in any other recreational activities. As a straight edge individual, I strongly oppose the use of recreational drugs. Consequently, I have an X on my face to symbolise my stance on this matter.

Edit:

I forgot to mention I have a HIGH pain tolerance. I’ve gotten surgery in my face and chest and didn’t need pain killers during the recovery. I also have tattoos everywhere.

But this is quite different.
