Question regarding gender markers on documents/ID (US specific)
Hey everyone. I hope you are all taking great care of yourselves, both physically and mentally <3
So I have been thinking...
1) Hypothetically, would it be in any way safer, if I were to leave my gender markers totally unchanged for the time being (while the dorito's in office) whilst normally pursuing my transition and being really stealth about it in public (not hiding it from those close to me or those I trust though), than attempting to change and correct them?
I have been thinking about this because I personally feel like I can handle emotionally being wrongly gendered on my documents (until these 4 years pass, at least), especially if it means that my safety won't likely be compromised (note: I'm a very masculine-presenting transfem).
2) Also, is there going to be any issue at all with me pursuing my transition with the wrong gender marker? Will I be denied HRT or something? And will documents like my diagnosis for gender dysphoria be available to the government somehow, so that they would be able to tell that I'm transitioning?
In essence, I'm trying to find out if I can bypass any/most of the risks faced by us right now in America. I don't want the system to know that I'm transitioning. If that's in any way possible, please let me know (I'm aware of the existence of DIY, I'm not asking about that though).
Thank you all, in advance. Please stay safe <3
