Two rooms for the price of one?

I am 28F. I’ve lived in my current houseshare for almost 6 months with two other girls, one who is 29 the other is 30.

30F works from home in her bed space most of the time which is something I hadn’t been told prior to moving in.

I wouldn’t choose to live with someone who works from home unless they had a really good social life because most of my time off is during the week due to my shift patterns and I really value alone time due to working a stressful job.

I get that you have to forgo some element of privacy when living in a houseshare but 30F takes the absolute biscuit. She leaves the house maybe.. 4 hours a week max. She doesn’t have much of a social life and obviously works from home.

We don’t particularly get on and 29F doesn’t like her either and apparently there’s been blowups in the past with previous housemates. She is very manipulative and tries to rule the roost it seems. She lives here as if no one else does and it. Is. Grating.

So without going off track too much further, 29F is moving out as it was found out that she hadn’t paid council tax in 11 months but had been charging me and 30F bills each month. (Aren’t I lucky with housemates?)

30F says she is selling her single bed in the spare room which is currently being used as a communal utility/guest room and says she wants to move her desk and computer in there as a workspace so she can continue to work from home but have an that room as an office.

AIBU in the fact I think she should pay to rent that room if she will be using it as an office space?

(Living with someone who works from home is already a huge compromise due to the increase utility bills and lack of privacy!!) she tried to sell the idea to me that I could use that space to if I was working from home. (I work in a hospital which she knows so would never use it for work) and will be “furnishing it herself”…

So from 9-6pm Monday to Friday that room would be used as her own personal office… due to line of work she does, where she has client sessions, she can’t really have anyone else in there. Data protection and all that…

What do you think?
