Year Of Sequels
It seems that Bollywood has discovered a successful formula, with nearly every actor, especially the superstars, jumping on the sequel bandwagon, believing that the sequel formula is a safe bet.
Among the actors, Ajay Devgn leads the pack, with seven sequels lined up for the next few years.
Akshay Kumar is also playing it safe, with five sequels set for release in the coming years.
Most of the sequels being made don’t necessarily require a follow-up, but the filmmakers and lead actors are moving forward with these projects, knowing that the nostalgia factor will likely work in their favor and bring financial success.
These days, creating an original film that is both engaging and entertaining is challenging.
Many of these sequels are more about cashing in rather than creating genuine films—they are essentially just projects. Most of the upcoming sequels bear little to no connection to their predecessors.
For example, Dhadak 2 has no relation to its predecessor, Dhadak. While Dhadak was a remake of Sairat, its sequel, Dhadak 2, is a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal.
