Walt does the most embarrassing things to maintain his ego and control

It is so annoying to me how many things Walt says or does to lie and "maintain control" over situations, but the lies he picks makes himself look worse.

Currently on S5 E4 rewatch and he's crying in Hank's office and making hank feel sympathetic to him being a bad father and bad husband. This is just a very small example because I'm currently on the episode and ticked off by Walt. Men should express their feelings but Walt just looks pathetic.

Also: "Oops!! I spilled gasoline everywhere I am so silly and uncoordinated hehehehe" Flynn was very considerate of his fathers health and "figured out" it must've been his cancer's fault and not that his father is unable to pump his own gas.

Walt very commonly pretends to be stupid or silly to lie and my question is: how is he not embarrassed? He was too prideful to have his treatment paid for, I'm guessing rooted in embarrassment, and yet continues to make up embarrassing lies that belittled himself.

He's such a walking contradictions. I love the show and love how much I can hate Walt. First couple of watches I actually sided with him.

What else has he done to make himself looks bad for the sake of keeping up his pride as the ultimate meth cook?
