learning manual in a new camaro?

May sound like a silly question, but its a serious one.

Been driving for 10+ years, I consider myself a good driver, and have done advanced driving courses involving tracks and such as it relates to my current and previous jobs, but it was always in automatic vehicles.

I'm planning on buying a camaro 1SS soon, and always wanted to own a manual car. I ride motorcycles so I am familiar with the theory of shifting manual vehicles, although a car obviously has different controls than a bike.

If I try and learn manual on a new car, especially one so powerful, am I setting myself up for failure and/or damaging my car? I don't really want to go the route of buying an old vehicle just for the purpose of learning manual, but I don't want to damage a brand new expensive vehicle either.. any tips?
