Seen by coworker after calling out
A few days ago, I visited a doctor to find I had pneumonia. It was pretty bad up until last night, but I'm still not at 100%. I work on a cattle farm, usually doing cleaning in a dusty environment. Although my illness was starting to ease up last night, I still called out of work for today as I wanted to be sure I'd heal, and 8 hours of manual labor in a dusty space didn't seem to be doable. I did not make the decision lightly as I've only worked at this job for a month and didn't want to come off as unreliable/leave my coworkers short. Throughout today, I began feeling a lot better, and decided to visit a park with my boyfriend briefly. While there, I ran into a coworker walking her dog. I already know this isn't the best look, especially with being new to the job, and am panicked. I have proof of legitimately being sick, but from their perspective I could see how this could cause gossip amongst my coworkers, or possibly disciplinary action. I'm feeling super dumb for being in public when regardless of how I felt, I should've still been resting at home since I called out. How can I get back on the right track of becoming a reliable employee in the eye of my manager?
