My late Christmas present 😄
TLDR: 2017 civic got totaled on Christmas and I got it replaced with a brand new Acura Integra A-spec tech 6MT.
I got my 2017 civic EX with just 8 miles on it on December 30, 2016. Fast forward to Dec 25, 2024, almost exactly 8 years, this drunk idiot came and rear ended my car on a highway exit ramp. My civic took the impact like a beast, I’m traveling at 40mph on the exit and this guy came at 85 mph. Not only did the civic take the hit so well, but it was still running just fine, at least that night. The guy tried to take off and I managed to chase after him and get his plates. I handed all the info on to the police and within a week they had him in custody. But regardless, my civic was determined as totaled and it was truly a heartbreaking loss, with over 160k miles, I’ve had so many memories in there and it’s always treated me well and gotten me wherever I needed to go. With my car being totaled, I had to think about what car I would get next and my mind immediately went to getting another civic and specifically the 2025 civic SI. After spending a week or two looking for one, the lowest OTD quote I got was 6k over MSRP without tax and title. With a price tag like that I decided it’s not worth the amount to get just an SI and I started looking at the Acura Integra. I spoke to just 2 dealers and I found an excellent place with no BS add-ons or dealer fees, who was giving me a lower quote for a 2025 A-spec tech with a manual transmission than what I got for the SI. It seemed like a no brainer to me also considering that my insurance gave me a much higher payout than what I thought my civic would be worth.
I know I didn’t get exactly a civic, but my new integra is a civic SI at heart and I’ve been loving it so far. I’m still figuring out the nuances with the manual transmission and trying not to stall too much haha but it’s such an enjoyable ride. I know this car isn’t a full on luxury car, although I love all the features and feeling it has. It’s perfect for me. Fingers crossed that this beauty gets to stay with me for a long time.
