Why do so many people prefer official instead of community servers? Genuinely curious.

First off I’m not here to say what’s the right or wrong way to play the game, do what you want and find what suits you, that’s what DayZ is all about, but I do wonder sometimes why what seems like 90% of this sub prefers official?

I know many will say they like the challenge or that’s what DayZ was “meant to be”. Another popular answer is lack of rules. Does it really come down to just those couple of things or there’s more to it?

I personally can’t stand official for two reasons, non-pristine loot and lack of moderation. The latter is self explanatory, cheaters on PC and dupers on consoles. They’re everywhere. As for the loot, I think the amount of loot is good but the fact that every second item you find is badly damaged is very demoralising and disappointing. Some will argue it makes sense considering the world is a post apocalyptic wasteland but it’s not enough for an average person who can only game a couple hours a day.

Also to add I’m not a new player, I have over 3k hours across PC and Xbox so I’ve experienced everything.
