Dain and Aaric

It is established in all books that magic likes all things in balance to the point in Onyx Storm that we learn that it even balances signets. Theophanie/Lilith. Xaden/Lynx. Not convinced that this means there is always a one to one, but does have me re-examining where there might be other “balanced” expressions of magic, which led me to thinking about Dain and Aaric. Dain has RETRO-Cognition. Aaric has PRE-Cognition. Dain is an expert in dead languages. Aaric is an expert in current languages. Even their ages… Dain is a year older than Violet. Aaric is a year younger. Dain is very clearly our representative and link to the past, while Aaric is symbolic of the potential of the future. What does that mean for plot? Where does Violet need clarity on the past? Where does she need to be looking to the future?
