Gen z cultural years imo

Millennial years were from 1998-2012 with the late 90s early 2000s having a lot of gen x influence

I'd say that 2012-2019 were all zillennial years since this when mid to late 90s borns were all teens or young adults.

2012-2013 leaned very millennial with lots of late 2000s culture still lingering (hipster, edm, swag, electropop era) these were the years of rapid smartphone adaptation

2013-2016 were peak zillennial transitional years. It is now common place to see High schoolers and some middle schoolers with smartphones and a lot of the trends are now very social media based with rising new social media platforms such as vine, musically, insta, snap and tumblr being created or popularized. A lot of the aforementioned millennial trends from the late 2000s are dead. basically the rise of smart tech.

2017-2019 last of the zillennial years and leaned more gen Z. lot of changes in trend and social media. a lot of the popular zillennial trends and apps dying. The death of vine, rebranding of musically to tiktok and ui changes of a lot of popular social media apps mark the start of gen Z culture imo. The hype beast era was purely gen Z. there were a lot of tech releases and changes in the mid to late 2010s like the release of the iphone X in 2017 which got rid of the home button and the release of the iphone xr in 2018, which was the first non flag ship phone model to not have a home button. (the ipad also followed the iphones but later) (if I recall correctly) there was also an influx of smart watches and wireless headphones due to the release of the apple watch in 2015 and airpods in 2017. while obviously not everyone buys apple, all these releases made the tech market more competitive imo. Also it made having only a phone and a computer less common. as more people were now buying smart watches and tablets. before like 2018/9 most teens were making vines on smart phone with a home button. Now teens are making tiktoks on a no home button iphone with airpods.

2019-2022 gen Z covid/tiktok teens. Most of meme and tiktok culture is created by gen z. Shows like euphoria and pinetrest aesthetics such as y2k and grunge being popular w gen z

2023-present fully gen Z culture wtv basically js tiktok since most trends get popular there.
