Anyone sick of loud horror
Just to preface yes I know it's dumb AF to expect any less specifically from the horror genre but JFC sometimes it's excessive and wouldn't even apply to real life scenarios. It's not even funny how many movies I've watched where the sound quality is terrible during important dialogue but deafening when a character is either moaning/crying/screaming. The only suspense I'm starting to get from horror movies nowadays is the suspense of when my mysophonia is going to get triggered next. One of the best examples of being terrifying without being loud and obnoxious is in 1985's Nightmare on Elm Street 2 when Jessy (the main character for those who haven't seen it) spies on Freddy in his basement late at night while he's burning items in the furnace and you get a millisecond (bone-chillingly quiet) visual of Freddy noticing Jessy staring- IYKYK.
