Only 2 dresses?

I read that back in those days. Women typically only had two dresses, and every day, one and a Sunday Best one. If that was the case, did they just wear the same dress every day? Did they wash their clothes every day or did they just wear dirty clothes day after day? They seem to do a quite a lot of stuff outside that would get the clothes dirty, so it's just hard for me to believe they would wear the same clothes every day without washing them.
