One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from Lost.
Despite Boone and Shannon’s pretty much insignificant presence on the show, I have always found this scene to be one of the best on the show. When Locke drugs Boone and he has a hallucination of Shannon dying, he wants to kill Locke, but once he gets to him he realizes it was simply a hallucination. When Locke asks him how he felt seeing Shannon dead, Boone finally admits to himself that it made him feel relieved, and that his love for her was just a huge burden. In doing so he finally lets go of his love for her. I’ve often thought of this scene in life and applying this thought to people has helped me so much. It’s super hard to do, but, once you let go of people, the relief you get is immeasurable. Makes a man want to run into the jungle and explore old airplane wrecks lol.
